A SECOND-hand car dealer who clocked cars has been ordered to pay £4,500 to his victims.

Adam Pryor of Tudor Way, Southgate, was ordered to pay £750 to each of the six people who bought cars from him at his Southgate dealership in 2006 and 2007.

He was also sentenced to nine lots of 100 hours unpaid work to run concurrently on July 28 at Wood Green Crown Court.

Pryor was charged with 14 counts of giving false trade descriptions, eight counts of conspiracy to defraud, three counts of providing false documents.

He pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to defraud and obtaining property by deception and guilty to seven counts of supplying goods to which false trade descriptions applied.

The case was bought before the court by Enfield Council’s Trading Standards team.

Officers discovered eight cars on sale had 709,000 miles taken off their clocks.

A second man, Alex Alagna, of Osidge Lane, Barnet, who was also involved in the scam, was fined £250 plus a £15 surcharge and ordered to pay £750 compensation to one of the victims.

Enfield's cabinet member for the environment, councillor Terry Neville, said: “Scammers, cheats and cowboy tradesmen should be aware Enfield is a no go zone for them."
