WITNESS bats and moths coming out of the dusk tomorrow evening with a guided walk from local experts.
Enfield Council’s parks team, the Hertfordshire & Middlesex Branch of the Butterfly Conservation Group, and the Hertfordshire and Middlesex Bat Group lead the walk in the grounds of Forty Hall tomorrow from 8.00pm.
Bats emit soundwaves and listen to the echoes produced, as a way of navigating and finding their insect prey in the dark, a process mimicked in radar technology.
Alan Mitellas, Parks Outreach Officer said "Sadly bat populations have seen serious declines in the past century mostly due to loss of feeding habitats including hedges, woodlands and ponds, and places to roost.
“Thanks to many local bat groups there are things we can do to help them.
"For anyone interested in these little creatures a bat walk is the best way of finding out about them. So why not join us?"
