A DRUG treatment centre has been awarded a £120k grant for refurbishment.
The National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse has given the money, after a council bid to the Department of Health, to refurbish the adult treatment centre on the Claverings Estate in Edmonton.
The centre receives referrals from health professionals for drug users who are then helped to wean themselves off their addiction and provided with emotional support such as counseling.
The money will be used for basic refurbishment such as painting and decorating as well as paying the salaries of employees.
Cllr Edward Smith, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services said “"Drug use is a scourge, and one of the main reasons for the escalating level of crime.
“We are committed to providing services that support the individual and help to change their lifestyles, this money will go a long way to achieving that aim.”
