ENFIELD is the biggest energy-wasting borough in London, according to new research.
The Energy Saving Trust has ranked all 33 boroughs in the capital and Enfield is the worst offender.
Enfield's 110,368 households could collectively save around £4.5 million on their energy bills by filling their cavity walls and insulating lofts.
That is ten times as much as the lowest ranking residential borough, Tower Hamlets, could save.
Barnet and Havering follow closely behind Enfield in the list.
Best at saving energy, and money, is The City of London, which has only 4,281 households, followed by Tower Hamlets, with 4,000.
The Government's energy and climate change minister Joan Ruddock called for Londoners to take advantage of help to make their homes leak less energy this week during a visit to the trust's advice centre in Croydon.
She said “It’s very important as a minister responsible for energy efficiency that I speak directly to residents, and hear first hand about their concerns and efforts in trying to make their homes more energy efficient.
“There is a fantastic opportunity for London residents to save money off their energy bills, but often people are unaware of what offers are available to them.”
The Energy Saving Trust provides advice on the kinds grants and initiatives which are available to help householders save money.
