An Edmonton woman is seeking the relatives of a fireman who died in the line of duty during World War I.
Firefighters John Horn and Billy Hanscombe were killed in action fighting a fire at Edmonton munitions factory on October 11, 1918.
Thanks to the intervention of their colleague, Jack Walton, their names will be added to the firefighters' National Memorial at a service in September.
Designed by artist John Mills, the bronze sculpture was erected in 2003 to the south of St Paul's Cathedral near the Millenium Bridge.
Mr Walton died in November, but his sister Brenda Clarke wishes to find the granddaughter of Mr Hanscombe, Margaret, to attend the service.
Mr Clarke said: "Sadly Jack died in November last year, and I feel I would like to carry out his wishes to be able to invite Margaret Hanscombe or any relative to the service."
If you think you can help Mrs Clarke find Margaret, contact the Independent on 020 8362 1438.
