Does any one remember the courteous Highway Code rule that stated: 'If the obstruction is on your side of the road you should give way to oncoming traffic'.
Other quaint rules were:
- the use of indicators is required if intending to change lane.
- a red traffic light means you may not proceed.
- I am sure your readers will readily recall other regulations which make our roads safer.
