I was walking in my beloved Grovelands Park this morning and noticed a level of litter that never existed when we used to have rangers.
Moreover, in recent days I've witnessed some minor acts of hooliganism, but had no idea who to call.
I don't think Cllr Terry Neville, Enfield Council's environmental spokesman, is telling us the truth when he says that the council's recent measures to introduce a parks constabulary will improve park life.
How can it be better when all we are now being offered is a sporadic presence?
It is more likely the move was made by a council desperate to save money given its apparent inability to collect taxes.
