At 12 noon on Sunday the whole of Enfield and Edmonton was covered with black smoke from the burning oil depot in Hemel Hempstead.
But what was more worrying was the amount of smoke adding to it from the waste incineration plant on the borders of Chingford and Edmonton.
It may have been an idea for the waste plant to shut down for a day, bearing in mind the number of children in the borough suffering from asthma and bronchitis.
