We, as Enfield GPs and advocated for our patients, would like to express strong concerns about proposed plans for Chase Farm Hospital. We represent a large number of patients who would find travelling to other sites eg Barnet or North Middlesex Hospital, very difficult, if not impossible.
The Enfield area needs a district general hospital with 24-hour acute services such as accident and emergency and maternity. Enfield residents deserve prompt medical care in a location which is easy for them, their friends and relatives to access.
Closure of such a provision, or undermining it by dividing the main hospital services will have serious consequences on the health of Enfield residents as well as reducing patient choice.
