Whitewebbs Motor Museum Brass Band has been entertaining audiences in the Enfield area for almost 100 years.

The band was formed from the North Middlesex Silver Band and the Enfield Band.

The North Middlesex Silver Band was formed in 1911 at Enfield's famous Royal Small Arms factory. Members wore a colourful military style uniform before World War II enjoying great success in marching competitions and brand contests.

The Enfield Band also enjoyed sucess before the war when they used to entertain the crowds at White Hart Lane before Spurs' games.

After the war the two bands amalgamated to become the North Middlesex Silver and Enfield Band and in 1977 they became the Enfield Co-Op Band.

When the Co-Op closed its Hertford Road site in Enfield in 2000, the band found a new home at the motor museum in Crews Hill, Enfield.

They changed their name to Whitewebbs Motor Museum Brass Band and are still going strong today.

Richard McGowan, secretary of the band said: "The band has a long and proud history.

"It did look bad five years ago when we lost our home at the Co-Op but we were lucky enough to be offered a new home at the motor museum.

"We mainly play overtures and classic marching music but we do like to try new tunes and do a few pop songs as well."

Whitewebbs Motor Museum Brass Band also entertain the crowds with Christmas concerts every year where they play seasonal favourites like Frosty the Snowman, Sleigh Ride and a wide selection of classic carols.

Christmas concerts this year have so far been held at Rosedale Free Baptist Church, Andrews Lane, Cheshunt, Tottenham Baptist Church and St Aldhelms Church, Windmill Road, Edmonton.
