The festive season is upon us and the spirit and magic of Christmas is alive in Enfield.
Some three months ago, Enfieldian Andy Abraham was working as a binman to provide for his family.
On Saturday night, millions tuned in to ITV to watch the humble family man take to the stage in the X-Factor finals.
Andy's reversal of fortunes proves that dreams really can come true and on top of his success he is now looking forward to a Christmas back with his wife and family, with a glittering future ahead of him.
Meanwhile more festive cheer arrived for the Wortley arrived for the Wortley family this week, when Buster the stolen cocker spaniel pub was safely returned to its young owner Jessica after he was taken during a burglary in November.
Following an Independent appeal featuring a heartfelt poem written by Jessica, Buster is now back in the arms of his family in time for Christmas.
The festive season can bring out the best and worst in us. But what we must not forget is that Christmas is about sharing, giving, peace and goodwill.
Happy Christmas from everybody at the Independent.
