A smoke alarm saved the life of a man caught in a house fire.
Firecrews from Edmonton and Enfield rescued an unconscious 40-year-old man from a bungalow in Picketts Lock Lane after neighbours heard the alarm at 9.30pm on Wednesday.
Station Officer Smith, of Edmonton fire station, said: "The smoke alarm alerted the neighbours and got us there quicker, it most probably saved his life."
The man was taken to North Middlesex Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and was due to be released on Monday.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
