COPS are hunting two men who stole money from a pensioner after conning their way into her home.
The two men told the 79-year-old woman they were from the water company and insisted they needed to inspect her pipes.
While one was in the kitchen pretending to work, the other went into the living room and took money that was on the table.
The woman showed out the first man but then heard a noise, and fearing for her safety, she took refuge with a neighbour and called the police.
Before officers arrived, the thief had smashed his way out of a bedroom window and escaped from the house, in Amwell Close, Enfield.
The men, who carried out the distraction burglary on Friday, December 10, at around 11.30pm, were both wearing dark clothing and were short. One is aged around 50 while the other is around 35.
Police have appealed for anyone with information who could help the investigation to call Detective Constable Debbie Ball on 0208 345 4469, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
