Enfield and Haringey Councils need urgently to negotiate with Transport for London about appropriate revised timetables for proposed road-calming schemes for side roads near the A406 north circular road where work on a safety and environmental scheme is in progress. They need to do so for the following reasons: Side roads are being damaged by heavy vehicles employed on the NCR safety and environmental scheme.
Thames Water Authority propose carrying out utility works in January and February 2011, weather permitting.
Road-calming measures should logically be determined on facts revealed by further progress of the A406 road scheme.
Enfield Council engineers estimate that at least four months beyond March 2011 should be allowed for completion of road-calming measures. An equivalent TFL extension of time should also be negotiated for road-calming schemes by Haringey Council.
Clearly, holistic town planning and joined-up thinking are required.
Hopefully, TFL will be able to urgently confirm that it will allow the timetables for Enfield and Haringey Councils’ road-calming schemes to be extended.
