AN Enfield councillor arrested on suspicion of possessing counterfeit goods has been re-bailed until the end of January.
Haselbury councillor Ali Bakir was arrested on November 3 at the Broadway International Food Centre he owns in West Ealing.
He was questioned by detectives on suspicion of possession of goods with false trademarks for sale or hire and released on bail. Yesterday, he reported to police, and was re-bailed as the investigation continues.
Cllr Bakir, who represents Labour, continues to sit on Enfield Council, and is still a member of his party's group. He was removed from the board of Enfield Homes on November 10.
He has been suspended from the Labour group while the investigation continues.
