THE Mayor of London is urging residents to support their local park in a city-wide competition.
Boris Johnson is running the Safer Parks Award for green spaces across the capital that are cherished by their communities.
Open spaces where councils, police and voluntary groups have already taken action to curb anti-social behaviour could be recognised and it is hoped a high standard will be set.
Mr Johnson is urging residents to contact Enfield Council or any “friends of” groups so those organisations can enter local parks.
Mr Johnson said: “We live in one of the greenest capitals in the world. We have over 3,000 parks to be proud of and no one should feel they have to avoid their local park because they feel unsafe, which is exactly why I have launched my Safer Parks Award.
“Safer parks are those well used by everyone in the community whether to jog, dog walk, picnic, or just enjoy a better quality of life.”
Entries close on January 21.
