A CONSULTANT at a private Enfield hospital is facing disciplinary proceedings after patient records were allegedly thrown away by cleaners.
Physiotherapist Shaun Murphy is accusing of storing three boxes of patient records under his desk in February and March 2009 while working for The King's Oak and Cavell Hospitals.
Mr Murphy discovered on March 5 that year cleaners had accidentally thrown away the unsecured records at the BMI hospital in north Enfield, it is claimed.
Papers going before the Health Professions Council on Monday, February 28, further allege when Mr Murphy discovered what had happened, he failed to immediately report it.
He is due for a hearing before the council, and if misconduct charges are proved, he faces the possibility of suspension or being struck off.
