DETECTIVES investigating a 2007 fatal shooting in an Enfield car park made a fresh arrest yesterday.

Duane Tomlin was shot dead in a car park off Dendridge Close as he got out of a minicab just after midnight.

The 20-year-old Enfield resident was on his way home on July 5, 2007, when the cab came under fire from a white Vauxhall Combo van.

He was shot several times as he tried to escape the gunmen, who had riddled the minicab with bullets.

Officers yesterday arrested and questioned a 30-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender in relation to the shooting. He has been released on bail until May 5.

Police last year released information on a 29-year-old man – Robert Bernard – who they want to question over the shooting, but who may have fled the country.

It is believed Mr Bernard, who has links to Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and St Lucia, left the UK on the day of the shooting for Thailand and may have since moved on to the Caribbean.

Officers continue to appeal for information on Mr Bernard's whereabouts, or for any further information on the fatal shooting to call 0208 733 4212, or 44 208 733 4704 from outside the UK, or email chetopa.appeal@met.police.uk. To remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The van involved in the shooting was found abandoned and on fire shortly afterwards in nearby Lackmore Road.

Six people arrested in 2007 in connection with the murder investigation were released without charge.
