The recently announced drastic reduction in ambulance numbers in London has removed the basic premise for ever closing Chase Farm Hospital A&E and for centralising stroke services.
We were always told that provision of transport between Chase Farm and Barnet, Chase Farm and North Middlesex was not an issue and that transporting patients suffering from a stroke from the Enfield area to Northwick Park or UCLH within an hour was never to be a problem.
Without available vehicles and crews this is no longer achievable and both these proposals need urgent re-assessment in the light of this new scenario.
