I didn’t believe what I was reading (‘Prizes for tidy citizens’, Enfield Independent, April 27). To be giving £50 in vouchers to good citizens putting litter in bins — whatever next? Fifty pounds for keeping your car clean or your front garden tidy?
I always pick up dropped rubbish when on my way round to the shops and drop it in the bins there, or on the way home when nearing the house and put it in my bin. This is voluntary and I don’t expect to be paid for it.
I thought the council was supposed to be strapped for cash. For goodness sake give it to an organisation that needs it.
