AN amateur football club is preparing for three cup finals after winning the league – and all in their first season.
Intertrac Football Club, which plays its home matches in Tottenhall Lane, was formed in September last year and were undefeated in their first season – leading them to the final of every competition they entered.
The club could now win three cups in eight days, starting with the North London and South Hertfordshire Sunday League Division Two Cup this Sunday at Brimsdown Sports Ground.
Manager Alex Michael, who formed the club, put the success down the group of 22 players that he has gathered over the course of the season, who have won 32 games and drawn one.
He said: “I got a bit lucky with a lot of the players that came on board to be honest.
“We have some players that have played at a professional level abroad, and it's really good to see everyone loving it – we're all really looking forward to winning the cups.
“I think we can play against any side on our day, so I think we can do it.”
If the team do manage to win all three cups to add to their league title and Joseph Gunter Memorial Cup victory, they will become the first club ever to hold all the trophies at the same time.
Mr Michael added: “This is the best team I've ever worked with – the lads are really professional and they want to win.
“We are currently on a run of 31 straight consecutive victories – I am not aware of any other amateur team that can match that.”
The club aren't happy with merely winning the league this year – they aim to win the Division One championship next year in their first season in the division, and then stay top for years to come.
Intertrac will play the Division Two Cup final on Sunday, before taking on the Challenge Cup final next Friday, finishing with the Charlie Saunders Memorial Cup final on Monday 23.
All the matches will be played at Brimsdown Sports Ground in Goldsdown Road.
