CHILDREN at an Enfield school held a balloon race on Friday as part of a community initiative.
Pupils at Firs Farm Primary School, in Rayleigh Road, made use of their vast field to launch the balloons into the sky.
Parent Rosa Hilmi, who organised the event, said: “It went really well – although a few people let their balloons go a bit early.
“My daughter has been going to school here for two years, and I thought there was a lack of community spirit at the school.
“Since I started to get people involved we've had more parents come on board and we've raised more than £15,000 for charity in just two years.”
Ms Hilmi added that the school was organising a fête on July 2 to continue to get people involved with the school.
