A NEW blog has been launched to keep residents up-to-date with restoration of an Enfield landmark.
A year-long project to renovate Forty Hall has begun thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of more than £1.8 million.
The Grade 1 listed hall in Forty Hill is due to reopen in Spring 2012 with the historic fabric restored and new exhibitions showing the history of the building and surrounding parkland.
Among posts on the new blog are pictures of the replica Jacobean staircase, restores its original appearance as designed by Sir Nicholas Rainton in 1629.
Also, Enfield Council hopes to keep residents in touch with discoveries during the renovation process, including a hidden doorways and ornate decorations which have been lost over the years.
Councillor Bambos Charalambous, who is in charge of culture at the council, said the blog is aimed at keep residents in touch with developments, and will also advertise events going on around the borough, such as this summer’s Edmonton Carnival.
