A FREE Nordic walking session will be on offer in Enfield this week in a bid to promote the sport.
Martin Christie, of Nordic Walking UK, is running the taster event in Enfield Town Park on Thursday evening to increase awareness of its health benefits.
Nordic walking involves the use of poles so that the upper body gets as good a workout as the lower body.
Councillor Bambos Charalambous, cabinet member for leisure and culture, will be giving it a go himself at the event.
He said: “This is an excellent opportunity for people just to show up and have a free go at Nordic walking in beautiful Town Park.
“It is also a great taster session to help people find out more about the varied walks programme that Enfield Council runs across lots of different locations and for all different levels of ability.
“If you are interested in the Nordic walking just turn up and have fun.”
All equipment will be provided at the session at 6.30pm, but participants should wear comfortable clothing and good walking boots or trainers.
