AN Enfield woman has received a sponsorship boost from schoolchildren as she prepares to climb two mountains for charity.
Joanna Peters, who works at Vanderpump and Sykes Solicitors in Gladbeck Way, is taking on Ben Nevis and Kilimanjaro with three friends this summer to raise money for the Epping Breast Cancer Unit.
She went to Chace Community School in Churchbury Lane last Wednesday where pupils gave her a cheque for £1,000 that they raised through a non-uniform day to support her challenge.
She said: “The money is needed at the hospital for new breast scanners which can cost up to £70,000.
“We think the main cancer charities lose a lot of their donations in administration, so we want to get all the money straight to the hospital.
“The kids have given us great support.”
The group head to Scotland to climb Ben Nevis on Sunday, before flying to Tanzania in late September to complete the challenge at Kilimanjaro.
