A WOMAN has died after she was hit by a train at Bush Hill Park station this afternoon.
Services were suspended for several hours by Network Rail after the unnamed woman was hit by southbound train heading to Liverpool Street.
Paramedics were called but the woman was declared dead at the scene. British Transport Police said the cause of her fall is being treated as unexplained at this stage.
Police shut down Bush Hill Park station following the incident, which happened just after midday on the line north of the station, and an investighation has been launched into the death.
In a statement, police added that efforts are being made to identify the woman and contact next of kin, and a file has been passed to Barnet Coroners.
The line was officially reopened to trains just before 4pm, although delays and disruption is expected to continue this afternoon.
