POLICE are looking for a key witness who may be able to shed light on why a woman was hit by a train in Enfield.
A 40-year-old Enfield woman was hit by a southbound train on Tuesday, May 17, on the line north of Bush Hill Park station.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
British Transport Police have described the death as “unexplained”, and are looking for a woman believed to be a key witness to help work out what happened.
Officers at this stage believe the woman who died was in Lincoln Crescent shortly before she was struck by the National Express East Anglia train.
They are looking for a blonde woman who was wearing a pink top, and added in a statement: “Officers would like to trace a woman they believe may be a key witness to the incident.”
The line was shut down for nearly four hours after the incident, which happened just before midday, causing disruption, delays and cancellations to services heading to and from Liverpool Street.
