A DROP-IN service is being launched to give older Enfield residents information on their finances.

Enfield Over-50s Forum is starting the advice clinic every Monday as it was revealed £5 billion a year is unclaimed by pensioners across the UK in pension credit and housing and council tax rebates.

Monty Meth, president of the forum, said: “We’re constantly told that people don’t know where to go for information that could mean more money in their pockets.

“Hopefully this drop-in will meet that need.

“Many people just do not know that the first £10,000 of savings is now ignored when working out eligibility for pension credit – or that owning your own home does not bar you from pension credit.”

The service is opening between 9.30am and 12.30pm at the Dugdale Centre, and will be launched on Monday, June 6, by Enfield Council leader Doug Taylor.

On offer will be advice from a qualified solicitor, information of tax relief and benefits, and a chance to raise constituency matters with Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey Joanne McCartney.
