A MAN has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Enfield.

The 38-year-old was taken in for questioning this afternoon after a 44-year-old man was knocked down and killed in Carterhatch Lane on Saturday night.

Police and paramedics were called after a crash on the railway bridge just before 11.30pm.

A silver-coloured BMW was seen speeding away from the scene, having sustained damage to its front end, roof and lost a wing mirror.

The car was found this afternoon in Enfield, police said, at around 5pm.

A post-mortem at Haringey mortuary found the man died of multiple injuries. His family have been told but he has not yet been identified.
