A MAN knocked down and killed in a hit-and-run crash has been identified by police.

Warren Perry, 44, was fatally injured when he was hit by a car on the railway bridge in Carterhatch Lane, just around the corner from his home in Larksfield Grove.

Paramedics and police were called shortly after the crash on Saturday, May 21, at around 11.30pm, but Mr Perry was declared dead at the scene.

Traffic officers investigating have reissued their appeal for witnesses to the crash to come forward after the driver involved failed to stop at the scene.

Officers believed a silver-coloured BMW was the car in question, and suffered front end and roof damage as well as losing a wing mirror. A car matching the description was seen leaving the scene at speed.

Anyone with information to assist the investigation can call 0208 597 4871 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A BMW was recovered yesterday afternoon by police in Enfield.
