From the “you couldn’t make it up” department.
Enfield’s Labour council has decided to organise a 15k charity walk exclusively for women.
It’ll take place on a Friday night, next month. Similar to the “moon walk” which takes place at Hyde Park – Enfield’s walk is a “night hike”. The poster says it will start and end at the Civic Centre.
What it doesn’t tell you is the route. Trent Park? Forty Hall? No, I can exclusively reveal that the walk in the dark is through “glitzy” Ponders End (the Labour council leader’s ward) and Edmonton. And there’s more – women are being encouraged to wear their pyjamas.
I’m told they’re looking for men to help with the marshalling and therefore assisting in the protection of the borough’s fair maidens. Following their sojourn in Pakistan, I wonder what the US Navy Seals are doing that night?
