EDMONTON Carnival organisers are calling for residents and groups to get involved as preparations get underway.

The festival, on July 23, is an all-day event that kicks off with a parade from the Millfield Arts Centre in Silver Street to Jubilee Park – where there will be live music, food, stalls and sports performances.

Enfield Council's cultural services manager, Lorraine Cox, said: “We want to hear from community groups, families, schools, colleges, clubs, societies or arts and creative or cultural groups.

“They can contact us before 10am on Monday, June 6. We welcome phone calls and will be glad to meet people to help them put their ideas together.”

Organisers said they want people to take part in the parade, perform live on the stage in the park, run a workshop or activity, or have a stall at the festival.

Any group taking part will also be entered into a competition to represent the borough at the New Year's Day parade in central London next year – as well as £1,000 prize money.
