A NEW community garden on formerly neglected land in Palmers Green is among a host of project would could benefit from a £2.1 million Enfield Council fund.
Councillors across the borough have been meeting with residents, drawing up a shopping list of ideas to put forward for the Residents Priority Fund.
Money has been split among the wards in Enfield, to be used to fund schemes and projects which have the backing of local people.
One such project is the ongoing restoration of land off Tile Kiln Lane into an urban garden for the Bowes community.
Councillor Alan Sitkin, (Lab, Bowes) has been leading meetings in his ward to determine where the money should be spent.
He said ideas range from simple fixes such as new sign posts and lighting to more complex ideas including alley-gating, installation of an outdoor gym and projects similar to those in Tile Kiln Lane.
Cllr Sitkin said: “We have contacted as many stakeholders in Bowes ward as we can think of to make sure people know about the process and know they can have a say.
“We have ended up with a pretty big list of ideas, and now we are trying to whittle them down. But I'm confident the money we've got can go a long way.”
Meetings are springing up across the borough during the next few months, as councillors try to draw the public into putting forward their ideas for spending the money.
Residents will have their chance to make their voices heard at area forum meetings which are taking place next week.
Councillors officers have been tasked with judging whether the ideas put forward are appropriate for council spending, and a final decision to awarded funds will be made by the Labour cabinet.
