AN amateur football club trying to win a historic three cups in eight days have lost in their bid.

Intertrac Football Club, which plays its home matches in Tottenhall Lane, Palmers Green, was formed in September last year.

The players were undefeated in their first league season – winning the championship and reaching the final of every competition they entered.

But after winning the North London and South Hertfordshire Sunday League Division Two final trophy on May 15, they lost their next two finals against Beresford United to miss out on an unprecedented three cups.

Manager Alex Michael said: “Beresford are a good team and we didn’t take our chances.

“But we’ll be back next year for a second attempt at the clean sweep.”

The club lost 3-0 in the Challenge Cup final on May 20, followed by a 5-2 loss after extra time in the Charlie Saunders Memorial Cup final on May 23 – both matches played at Brimsdown Sports Ground in Goldsdown Road.

The results bring a disappointing end to an extraordinary debut season for the club, in which they have taken three titles.
