WOMEN from across Enfield will take to the streets this evening for a charity walk through the borough.
The first Enfield Night Hike is taking place tonight to raise funds for the Nightingale Community Hospice Trust and towards a £1.5m advanced surgical robot for Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust.
The 15km hike starts and finishes at Enfield Civic Centre, in Silver Street, making its way around the north of the borough from 8pm.
Among the supporters of the inaugural event are Olympic mascotts Wenlock and Mandeville who will join the women on the walk.
It is also one of the first events in The Enfield Festival – a four month calendar of arts, cultural, and charity events through the summer which are happening in Enfield.
Walkers have pledged £15 to take part and have been generating sponsorship to be divided equally between the hospice, which cares for cancer sufferers and their families, and the hosptals' bid to buy a da vinci robot which enhances the surgeon’s vision and movement during keyhole surgery.
Women are able to sign up for the walk right up to the start itself.
