COUNCILS have called for residents to make their final comments on a plan on how to manage waste in north London.
The North London Waste Plan sets out where seven north London boroughs – including Enfield – will build future waste sites and decides on planning policies for them.
Developers trying to build Europe's biggest waste handling plant at Pinkham Way on the edge of the borough submitted their planning application for the scheme to Haringey Council last week.
Residents living close to the A406 site fear the plans will damage their health and have campaigned at council meetings in Barnet against the proposal.
If approved, they fear there will be 560 extra trucks rolling through the area every day and fear the technology for destroying the rubbish may also be harmful.
