LEGENDARY TV entertainer Bruce Forsyth has been knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Sir Brucie, who was born and raised in Edmonton, has carved out a career in entertainment spanning more than 50 years and become a favourite among households across the UK.
Following a series of campaigns to get an honour for the 83-year-old – including a motion in Parliament - he was announced as a new Knight of the Realm on Saturday.
Mr Forsyth was a pupil at Latymer School and made his first foray into showbusiness aged 14 with his one-man routine called Boy Bruce, the Mighty Atom.
His big break came in 1958 when he bagged the compere job on TV variety show Sunday Night at the London Palladium.
He went on to become a star of stage and screen, in recent years presenting hit shows including The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right, and Strictly Come Dancing.
He will be invited to Buckingham Palace later this year with the other honour recipients to officially receive his knighthood.
