MORE than 500 women donned furry pink ears and took to the streets of Enfield for a walk to raise money for two charities.
Olympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville were in town to start off the inaugural Enfield Night Hike, raising money for The Nightingale Hospice and Barnet and Chase Farm's da Vinci robot appeal.
Women of all ages had signed up to the 15km walk on Friday, June 10, which started at dusk and saw several hundred people walking the streets of Enfield for charity.
The event was backed by Enfield Council and promoted as part of the Enfield Festival.
Councillor Bambos Charalambous, cabinet member for leisure and culture, joined the women at the start and promised a repeat of the charity walk next year.
He said: “This event was a huge success, bigger than we could have imagined with a lot of positive feedback.
“The women liked the fact that they were helping local charities that would be benefiting local people. They all ended up having a really great time. It was a fantastic event.”
The total money raised will not be known until next month, with all funds being split between the hospice, in Lancaster Road, which cares for cancer sufferers and their families, and the hospital appeal for £1.5m to pay for the surgical robot.
