A BUDDING Enfield athlete won bronze in a London-wide disability athletics event on Thursday.
Dalian Richmond, of Durants School in Pitfield Way, took third place in the boys' severe learning disability 100 m event at the London Youth Games, which sees youngsters represent Enfield against all 32 other London boroughs.
The 17-year-old said: “I’m very happy I won a medal, a good one. I’m very happy with today and I’ll keep on running.”
Enfield came second overall in the boys' competition and fifth in the girls', in which 600 young people participated – making it the biggest single disability athletics competition in the country.
There are five disability sports in the Games in total – the borough's boccia team took the title in their competition last month.
Former participants in the London Youth Games include Olympic 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu, England and Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand and multiple Paralympic gold medallist David Weir.
