HUNDREDS of people are expected to attend the first of a series of bandstand concerts in an Enfield park this weekend.
Friends of Hilly Fields is launching its annual concert series, which have been drawing in large crowds since 1998.
On Sunday, June 26, Welwyn Garden City Brass Band will be taking to the Hilly Fields stage for renditions of a host of showtunes and songs from the Last Night of the Proms.
The popular concerts are not just an opportunity to enjoy the park but also help to raise money for a local charity.
This Sunday's concert, starting at 3pm, will be raising funds for the North London Hospice.
Future concerts will feature Skinner Rats Folk Group on July 10, and Roosters Rock ‘n’ Roll Group on August 14.
And on July 24, the Colin Peters Jazz Quartet will be performing with a guest solo performance from trumpeter Digby Fairweather.
All the concerts are held at the bandstand in the park, off Clay Hill, which was restored in 2000 using a Millennium grant given to the Park's friends group.
