POLICE are hunting for two teenage boys who threatened and mugged a group of friends at Enfield Town station.

The two hooded boys first asked for drugs from the group before rifling through their pockets and stealing three mobile phones.

The victims, all aged around 16 years old, were on platform one of the station on the evening of May 23 when they were targeted.

The robbers, who were both wearing coats with the hoods over their heads, threatened to hurt the group before fleeing the scene on a train destined for Liverpool Street station.

Detectives Constable Gerry Hughes, who is investigating the mugging for British Transport Police, has released CCTV images of the suspects.

He said: “This was understandably a terrifying ordeal for the group, and fortunately none of them were seriously hurt.

“They were intimidated by these two men and, fearing for their safety, felt they had no other choice but to hand over their possessions.

“We are treating this incident very seriously and are determined to catch those responsible. I am urging anyone who witnessed the attack, or who recognises the young men pictured, to contact police.”

Anyone with information can call DC Hughes on 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference B5/LNA of 23/06/2011, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
