A FORMER Parliamentary hopeful has joined the race to be the next Bush Hill Park councillor.
Ben Weald is standing in next month's by-election representing the English Democrats.
A live-long resident of Enfield, he stood unsuccessfully against Conservative MP David Burrowes in last year's General Election.
He is the second candidate to declare they are standing following Conservative hopeful and former mayor Lee Chamberlain, hoping to fill the seat vacant with Eleftherious Savva resigned.
Mr Weald, who is profoundly deaf, said: “As a person who is new to politics I would aim to continue and hopefully improve on the work Mr Savva's done.
“My aim would be to work with all the residents of the ward and get the best for them at every opportunity.”
The by-election is scheduled to take place on July 28.
