A EDMONTON man who broke a delivery man's jaw in a violent robbery has been jailed.
Michael Grant, 46, launched the unprovoked attack on his victim – a 37-year-old father of two who was delivering mobile phones in Mount Pleasant.
Grant, of Lansbury Avenue, attacked the man in broad daylight as he returned to his car, hitting him on the back of the head and in the face.
The man needed surgery to repair damage to his jaw after the attack, on May 28 last year.
A mobile phone found at the scene of the robbery was linked to Grant, who was arrested but denied involvement in the crime.
He stood trial in April and was found guilty of robbery and causing grievous bodily harm. A judge at Wood Green Crown Court jailed him on Wednesday, June 22, for a total of 12 years.
Detective Constable Lianne Grayson, from Enfield CID, said after sentencing: “This was a violent and unprovoked attack on a man carrying out his day to day work.
“The sentence reflects the seriousness of the incident and the victim can now move forward.”
