FUNDRAISERS hoping to buy equipment to help an Enfield girl with cystic fibrosis are holding an event tonight.
Shannon Mcdonagh, 15, suffers from the disease that causes her breathing difficulty, as well as diabetes and arthritis, and needs regular trips to hospital.
Now an Irish music group want to raise £10,000 to buy an airway clearance vest that will help the blood flow in her lungs and reduce mucus build-up.
Organiser Brogan McAuliffe said: “We met Shannon at the Feith an Cheoil school of Irish music based in Enfield, and during the four years that we have known her she has never once complained or let her illness get her down.
“She is a keen musician and singer who plays the accordian and tin whistle. Despite regularly being admitted to hospital, Shannon never fails to attend music lessons, rehearsals and events.”
The event tonight at the Haringey Irish Centre in Pretoria Road includes performances by singers and Irish bands, and a set by DJ Brendan Morgan.
Tickets cost £5 on the door.
