The suggestion that Chase Farm and North Middlesex Hospitals should be joined is a very good one, although I fear there may be opposition from some Enfield residents.
For some reason residents in some parts of the borough would rather trek over to Barnet Hospital than go to the (much nearer) North Middlesex Hospital. Historically the North Middlesex Hospital had a poor reputation, old dilapidated buildings, etc.
The hospital has been transformed in recent years and I would urge residents to think again before dismissing this hospital as a “no-go area”. The facilities in the new building are wonderful and even more impressive is the exceptionally low rate of hospital acquired infections.
I can reach the North Middlesex Hospital in approximately 15 minutes. Admittedly by public transport it may not be quite so easy, but there is a move to get a bus service from Enfield Town to the hospital. There would be an even stronger case for this new bus service if the two hospitals were joined under one management.
I welcome Nick de Bois and David Burrowes’ support for joining our two local hospitals and urge residents to keep an open mind as to the benefits of such a move.
