ENFIELD North MP Nick de Bois has appealed for calm as rumours continue to circulate on Twitter of rioting in Enfield Town.
The MP said he had spoken to police who have mounted a heavy police presence in the town centre.
Mr de Bois said on his Twitter feed: "Twitter needs to calm down a little as presently there is much wrong speculation about Enfield and riots.
"Good police presence around Town but reports on Twitter are inaccurate about disturbances presently."
Our own reporter on the scene, David Hardiman, also reports riot police are prepared for disorder, but there are currently no disturbances.
Groups of teenagers have been seen arriving by public transport and in private vehicles and many are being searched by police.
