POLICE have arrested another man in connection with riots in Enfield Town on August 7, bringing the total arrested across London to more than 1,500.
The latest figures from the Metropolitan Police show that 1,580 people have now been arrested in the last week, 330 of them children.
Meanwhile, a looter who stole a television during the disorder has today handed themselves in at Edmonton Police Station, prompting an appeal for more to come forward.
Councillor Christine Hamilton, Enfield's cabinet member for community safety, said: “The individual who handed in the TV today felt the net closing in and decided not to wait for the inevitable visit from the police.
“Thanks to the excellent work of our CCTV operators we have hundreds of high quality images of those who caused damage and distress during the rioting which have been handed to police.
“I would urge anyone who took property during the looting to hand it into their local police station and give themselves up before they are caught.”
Rioters in Enfield Town ransacked shops along Church Street and Silver Street and clashed with police, before looting shops in the Southbury Road retail park and damaging buildings in Ponders End.
