A BIKER is rejoicing after police raided a shipping container in Edmonton and recovered his stolen motorcycle.

Sam Jackson spoke out to the Enfield Independent two weeks ago, accusing detectives of not trying to find his Yamaha R6 even though an in-built tracking device showed it had been stashed in Anthony Way, Lower Edmonton.

After he made his complaints public, a Detective Sergeant from Haringey Police was assigned to the case and swiftly recovered the stolen bike.

Mr Jackson, 27, said: “It's marvelous, I'm completely blown away. Totally unexpected.

“There were three containers in Anthony Way and the guy who owned them gave them the key. When they opened the second one, they found my bike, and eight other stolen motorbikes.

“So there's another eight people who will have been made very happy this week.”

David Martin, from software firm Acutrac Ltd who made the tracking device on Mr Jackson's bike, helped police to pinpoint the containers.

The owner of the containers is not thought to have known what was in them, and police are now pursuing leads to catch the bike thieves.

Mr Jackson, of Pemberton Road, said the bikes were all still locked up and appear to have been lifted off the road by the thieves into a waiting van or truck. Many of them are then shipped to Estonia or West Africa to be sold or stripped for parts, he said.

And he added: “The Haringey cops deserve credit for moving swiftly once they had been told to get on to it. But you wonder why they couldn't have done this earlier.

“David from Acutrac was brilliant, and thanks to the Enfield Independent for helping to get things moving.”

His bike, which was taken on October 28, is currently still wiith police forensic teams and he is hoping to be reunited with it later this week.
