More than 1,000 scouts from Enfield braved the wet weather at an Olympic-themed camp at the weekend.
All 29 scout groups from the borough went to Tolmers Scout Campsite in Cuffley, each taking on the identity of an Olympic country for activities such as archery, zorbing and go-karting.
The 1,200 children and leaders also tried to break two world records – for the greatest number of people ‘gunged’ in three minutes and the largest thumb-war chain. The attempts are currently being assessed.
District commissioner Mark Dowsett said: “It was a tremendous weekend. I was proud to see so nearly all of Enfield’s scouts enjoying the activities and getting outdoors for such a memorable event.
“We couldn’t have done it without the volunteers who worked so hard to put the event together, and all the volunteer leaders who bought the young people along and camped with them.”
