Lesbourne Edwards’ 104 was not enough to steer Enfield to victory in their Middlesex Division Two clash with Shepherds Bush, who claimed a winning draw.
Inserted into bat, visitors Enfield started strongly with Edwards hitting eight fours and six fours en-route to a knock of 104 from 153 deliveries.
From there, though, the runs did not flow freely and Edwards worked his way through six partners at the crease as Enfield reached 247 for seven before opting to declare.
But despite declaring to give themselves the best opportunity of removing their hosts, Enfield could not make much headway in dismantling the Shepherds Bush attack.
Opener Jack Brydon (75) and Robert McCaroll (20) put on 78 for the opening wicket before knocks of 65 and 71 at three and four boosted the home side.
Shepherds Bush closed on 243 for five, with Enfield unable to remove them. Leo Smith’s two for 50 summed up a frustrating afternoon in the field.
A disappointing batting display saw Winchmore Hill lose their Division Two fixture at Highgate by 75 runs.
Put into bat by their visitors, Highgate made a faltering start and were struggling on 18 for two as Thomas Kopelman (two for 38) struck early.
The wickets continued to fall with alarming regularity for the hosts; Siran Seevaratnam (two for 42) and Jim Gatting (three for 39) to the fore.
However, strong resistance from the tail saw Freddie Barrass (35) help steer Highgate to a total of 191 for nine.
Seevaratnam (8) was gone early but Charlie Holmes (21) and Steve Gent (40) helped steady the innings for a while.
But once Holmes departed the wickets began to tumble for Winchmore Hill, who were all out for a lowly 116 as the middle order were decimated by Craig Gourlay (four for 28) and Hashen Ramanayake (three for 34).
Botany Bay eased to an eight-wicket win over Langleybury in the Saracens Herts League Championship after a fine bowling display set them on their way to the points.
Having removed their hosts for just 96, Bay then reached the required total of 97 in just 23 overs and with eight wickets in hand.
Ben Howgego (51 not out) and Kasey Harris (27) did the damage after Andrew Knight (three for eight) and Greg Harris (three for 15) had ripped into the Langleybury line-up.
In Division Three A, North Enfield came unstuck at home to Redbourn, losing by 45 runs.
The visitors started sluggishly and after Derrick Saunders (four for 60) had accounted for both openers, Daniel Roe (85) came in at number four to steady the ship.
Only two more Redbourn batsmen made doubles figures and with Shahid Ebrahim (three for 20) also impressive, North Enfield removed their visitors for 207.
But their reply was stuttering. Stuart Halley opened with 31 from 69 deliveries but went through four partners in quick succession.
Steve Gandy put on a quick-fire 25 but by that stage North Enfield were in real trouble as Darren Bassill (two for 18) impressed with the ball.
Saunders (10), Ebrahim (9) and Vahid Khan (9) were all dismissed in quick succession as Enfield were removed for 164.
In Division Two A, Holtwhites Trinibis crushed St Albans, winning by 82 runs at home.
Batting first, the hosts put on 166 all out before making light work of removing the away side for just 85.
Northampton Exiles made it two wins from two as they overcame Rickmansworth by two wickets in Division Four A.
Hosts Rickmansworth made 160 before being removed and in reply, the Exiles made it home with two wickets to spare, reaching 162.
